A fairly strong earthquake just hit. Nothing fell over, but I could feel the building move, and the aftershocks just stopped a second ago. Details to follow.

I don't see anything obvious, but I can't tell what time it really was when you posted. (Is your server actually in Tokyo?)

The timestamp looks right. (My server is in the US, but my blogging software adjusts post timestamps to Tokyo time.) Maybe it wasn't as big a quake as I thought.

GB: I didn't feel or hear a thing, and I've been sitting at my desk!

Bloomberg says it was a magnitude 5.1 quake. I guess I'm just more sensitive to these things than you are, TT.

Is it possible that some buildings move more? Especially the ones that are more recently built, and are the beneficiaries of newer earthquake-resistant technology?

Maybe, but our building is pretty old.

I think it`s easier to notice jishin in the older buildings, but I have noticed your sensitivity, GB, and would say it`s a good thing.

It looks like it was this one, and they say it was 4.7. I guess there's some delay in getting them posted to that page. Probably if I'd come back in an hour it would have been there, but it was late at night (for me) and I wanted to go to bed.
